Job Description:
Sober Living Support Staff (Live- In)(20-28 hours weekly) Position
Summary:
The Sober Living Support Staff is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a sober living residence, where residents are recovering from substance use disorders.
The Support Staff ensures that the residence is a safe and supportive environment that promotes recovery and wellness.
Job Duties:
Enforce house rules and program policies that promote a safe and supportive environment for residents in recovery.
Adhere to the Drug Free Workplace policy and the Code of Conduct signed as part of the Company's employee onboarding process.
At the beginning of each shift, read the shift notes to catch up on what is transpiring with the residents and to identify potential resident/housing needs.
Conduct a walkthrough of the house.
During facility walkthroughs Support Staff are to:
o Check in with residents who are present at the Residence.
o Ensure the house is clean and presentable and ensure the chores have been completed satisfactorily.
o Report any identified items and/or areas of the facility which are in need of repair and/or replacement to the Program Manager and/or Operations Director.
o Ensure facility supplies are stocked and report needed supplies to the Program Manager and/or the Operations Director.
Ensure residents are ready for transportation to the outpatient facility by the time the van arrives.
AS NEEDED - Pick-up all medications delivered to the outpatient facility each afternoon for residents residing in your assigned facilities.
Assist other staff with completion of their duties as requested by the Program Manager and/or the Operations Director.
Complete shifts notes when opening AND closing of the house during each scheduled shift.
Open and close the house each scheduled shift by following the specific guidelines contained below:
o Opening the house:
Report to work promptly at the start of your scheduled shift.
Check facility whiteboards and remind residents of scheduled appointments Ensure all residents are present at the breakfast Facilitate the morning devotional activity after residents have finished eating.
Observe the self-administration of resident medications.
Assist residents with morning chores and ensure chores are completed satisfactorily.
o Closing the house:
Report to work promptly at the start of your scheduled shift.
Observe the collection of resident UA's on designated testing days.
Breathalyze all residents and report positive results to the facility management.
Facilitate nightly check-in with each resident.
Observe the self-administration of resident medications.
Competencies:
Knowledge of substance use disorders, 12-step recovery program(s), and related issues.
Understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing sober living houses.
Ability to manage and provide oversight of resident's daily responsibilities and coordinate tasks effectively.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with residents, staff members, and other stakeholders.
Ability to implement policies and procedures that promote a safe and supportive environment for residents.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Knowledge of healthcare providers and community resources that can support residents in recovery.
Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to changing needs and circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
Education and
Experience:
Must hold a valid California driver's license with a minimum of 4 years of driving experience.
Driving history must be free of major violations for the past 3 years and/or less than 3 minor violations over the past 3 years.
Prior experience in a management role in a sober living house or a related setting is highly desirable.
Knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework governing sober living houses in California is required.
